Every Sat—SunCastle Hill
School children in uniforms explore a contemporary art installation in a bright gallery space. Several students in white shirts, plaid skirts or shorts, and black shoes examine quirky objects inside clear acrylic vitrines, including a severed head-like sculpture, a yellow oozing form, and other surreal items on white pedestals. Behind them, large floor-to-ceiling LED screens display close-up images of a giant metallic or organic object against a blue oceanic background, with text labels such as "OBJECT NO. 002". One child holds a green booklet, another peers into a display. A tall vertical sign reads "DUDE WHERE'S MY ICE?" in bold white letters on a dark background with a small photo. A vintage-style framed poster hangs on the left wall.School children in uniforms explore a contemporary art installation in a bright gallery space. I put the stars on the ground

Every Thu—SatSydney Observatory
An image of a stargazer, leaning back in a chair, staring up at the sky. The image is shot in an extreme wide: the stargazer looks tiny compared to the bright, colorful and mostly pink sky, and the vast expanse of water that surrounds them. The stars are visible in a long stretch above the stargazer's head.

Southern Sky Astrophotography

140 Years of Programs

A museum is more than the physical container that holds it. It is everything that gets us to this moment. Powerhouse Museum maintains a public archive of past programs dating back to its beginnings in the 1880s.
