Collection Conversations is a free program that brings the Powerhouse Collection (opens in new tab) to life through storytelling led by Powerhouse Volunteers. Each talk invites audiences to discover objects in new and meaningful ways.
Presented across Sydney, the program creates spaces for learning through shared conversations.
Upcoming Collection Conversations
Each month, Collection Conversations at Powerhouse Castle Hill will focus on a specific aspect of the museum’s collecting practices. All events in the Collection Conversations series will include a presentation incorporating objects from the Powerhouse Collection and a tour of one of our open display storage areas.

From classroom tools to learning technologies, Powerhouse Volunteers explore how teaching has evolved across generations. - Thursday 8 October – Diwali
From intricate textiles to luminous traditions, Powerhouse Volunteers explore how cultures in India expresses light, hope and renewal. - Thursday 12 November – Parramatta
From transport and migration to urban transformation, Powerhouse Volunteers explore the stories that have shaped Parramatta and Greater Western Sydney. - Thursday 10 December – Community
From games and music to shared traditions, Powerhouse Volunteers explore how objects bring people together and create a sense of belonging.
