Speculative Horizons (Emily St. John Mandel)

Teacher Academy: Speculative Horizons is designed for English teachers, primary teachers and school librarians teaching creative writing, with direct links to the NSW English syllabus outcomes. Particularly relevant to educators exploring dystopian, post-apocalyptic and speculative fiction, the program brings together internationally acclaimed author Emily St. John Mandel, Task Eternal, one of the opening exhibitions at Powerhouse Parramatta, and author Ceridwen Dovey, who shares practical insights into teaching creative writing.

Morning tea, lunch and refreshments will be provided. Attendees will also receive a signed copy of Emily St. John Mandel’s new novel, Exit Party.

Pre-service teachers and English academics working at this intersection of creative writing and education are also encouraged to attend.

Teacher Academy is a program of events recognising the important work of teachers across the education sector and empowering them as creative designers of learning.
